Once upon a time, there was a ratty old bench that got no love. The bench was a Craigslist find from the day where there were no facebook yardsale groups. Originally intended as a fixer upper project for an interior design project, it ended up being put to the side for many years and forgotten about.
But, the time had come and motivation stirred inside and next thing you know, I am mixing my own paint colors with a light tan house paint and green and blue acrylic paint. And next thing you know, this beautiful light blue color was born! Notice this project started outside on a beautiful day but was then brought inside to finish when the temperature dropped the next day.
Inspired by the beautiful calligraphy lettering I decided to paint a quaint wording across the top of the bench. I wanted something simple but effective for a welcoming area as I picture this as being a bench by the front door. "Hello Dear", "Hi!" and "Welcome" were all options until I decided on "oh hello there". The paint was absolutely terrible so I had to do layers and layers of paint over the lettering to make it look the way I was invisioning. Not an easy task when the little ones are getting antsy!
Metallic gold accents were added to the wording and wow did that make the lettering pop!
The finished bench. Much more personality, I'd say! I love it so much!
Oh and the dogs caught me taking photos and had to model for me! Meet Chummy on left and Lucky on the right.
